description

In this 12-session live online course, students dive into learning about aeronautics, flight physics, airplane design, rocketry and aerodynamics!

About the Instructor
Prof. Mark Baraket (M.S. Astrophysics UC-Berkeley) is a Certified Science & Space Ambassador with the National Space Society, former NASA researcher and experienced aeronautics educator.

Does your child wonder how airplanes fly or dream of becoming a pilot? They can learn the science of flight from an actual pilot and NASA scientist!

Airplanes, gliders and helicopters all stay midair due to the principles of the flight science called aeronautics. These include the physics concepts of Newton's Laws of Motion, aerodynamics, the compressibility of air and Bernoulli's principle of lift.

In this live online course designed for kids ages 8-13, a variety of class activities bring aeronautics concepts to life. The course includes 12 live interactive presentations with Prof. Mark Baraket, flight physics simulations designed by NASA, detailed curriculum materials and printable review handouts.

Course Includes:
- Twelve 50-minute live Zoom classes with Prof. Mark Baraket (Masters of Science, Astrophysics)
- Twelve printable Homework Review Handouts and printable Certificate of Completion
- Class size capped at 12 students for a small group learning experience
- Zoom recordings available for missed sessions
- Designed for ages 8-13 (grades 3-7). Younger children may participate with parental support.

Two Scheduling Options:

1. Weekly Course: meets once a week for 12 weeks

2. Summer Camp: meets 4 times a week (Monday-Thursday) for 3 weeks (summer months only)

Course Syllabus:

Class 1: Newton's 3 Laws of Motion | Class 2: The Wright Way | Class 3: Jet Propulsion | Class 4: Aerodynamics of Baseball | Class 5: Model Rockets & Real Rockets | Class 6: Water Rockets | Class 7: Kites & Wind Tunnels | Class 8: Aircraft Motion & Aerodynamics | Class 9: Electric Aviation Innovations | Class 10: Compressible Aerodynamics | Class 11: Hypersonics | Class 12: Aerodynamics of Drones & Helicopters

Parent Review: "Mark was fantastic with our son - his teaching style and personality were spot on for the age group. The engaging lessons and thoughtful handouts kept our son engaged every week. We're so thankful for the way Mark nurtured our son's love of aeronautics!"
